betPawa donated 60 water tanks, to be distributed across Kenya, and food to flood victims in Mavoko, Machakos County.

We were backed by Betting Control and Licensing Board officials as we flagged off all 60 water tanks - each 5,000 litres in capacity - from the Jumbo Limited factory on Mombasa Road.

The tanks are intended to help various affected communities in their water storage efforts.

Later the team distributed foodstuff to 500 families in Mavoko with the help of the area chief, Cosmas Nzanga.

Simon Mwangi, betPawa’s Country Marketing Manager, said “Everyone at betPawa’s hearts go out to all those affected by the heavy flooding that wreaked havoc across different parts of the country.”

He went on to say, “Today, playing our role as responsible corporate citizens, we are here to further support the efforts made earlier by the government’s multi-agency team, which ensured that Mavoko residents were assisted in beginning to rebuild their lives.”

BCLB chairlady, Dr. Jane Makau said, “As a board, we have been encouraging betting firms to undertake corporate social responsibility. So, today 500 families will be getting food,” after citing the government’s call to action for the private sector to support flood victims across the country.

betPawa’s donation comes two weeks after we completed a borehole project in Kitui County, inspired by a resident of Kanduti Location as part of our Dream Maker campaign.

Previously, the residents faced severe water scarcity due to reliance on a seasonal river that, when dried, forced them to walk at least 10 kilometres to the next available stream.
