There is a strange smell in Turin. It’s not the stench of rotten food. Neither is it that of dead creatures. It’s a smell of fear…

Greatness is relative you say. There is always someone greater than the greater one. Juventus had a fantastic run, by their own standards and now face a herculean task in overcoming the giant Real Madrid. The undisputed Kings of Europe. Although the Old Lady comes to the final unbeaten, they face an opponent whose record at this stage of football is second to none.
History has facts. Madrid has won all five of its UEFA Champions League finals, claiming an unmatched number of triumphs, while Juventus have lost the final more times than any other club – four times precisely. Their only victory was a 1996 penalty shoot out over Ajax. the Ajax of Europa League...Saturday will add to the awful record that Juve bears; a fifth final lost.
The last time these two sides met, was 19 years ago! Under tactician Marcello Lippi then, Juve in its third-straight final, came in as heavy favourites(Just as small minds refer to them today), and they were poised to win, against a fairly younger and upcoming Real side. Just like the Juve of today again, they had a really experienced team, that interestingly had the current Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane. To cut a long story short, juve went home empty handed.
Juventus, and Gianluigi Buffon, will travel to Cardiff, desperate for success.
Real Madrid, however, boasts the best player on the continent. A leader and champion. Zidane has done quite a lot in bringing the team together and the Los Blancos are firing from all cylinders. Madrid, a hard-nosed juggernaut has the experience of playing at this stage of football. The likes of Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric, Benzema and the workhorse Ronaldo are used to listening to the Champions League anthem. They understand the business. That is important.
Real Madrid is an attacking side. The arsenal and attacking quality of the La Liga Champions is mind-blowing. Madrid, creates more chances, scores more goals, hits more shots on target, are superior in the air and provide immense danger on the counters. The arsenal in Real Madrid’s attack is testified in the number of goals; Cristiano Ronaldo has twice as more goals in the Champion’s League this term than the overrated Juventus attacker - Gonzalo Higuain.
Sergio Ramos, Alvaro Morata, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema are outstanding in the air, and this is where they will beat Juventus. Although the Italian outfit has a mean backline, Real can aways through different cards to the table, and shift gears at any moment in the game.
Real’s firepower might help them ease to victory. Zidane’s men have relied heavily in goals, and coming to the final they will look for goals. We expect Juve to be economical in attack and hope to defend in numbers. That strategy will certainly fail them.
It’s another record at stake for Madrid, and there is all indication that the Los Blancos are sniffing victory.
